Mother Seton
By S. Mary Agnes McCann, 1929

Mother Seton, Foundress cherished,
Lips of all your Daughters claim;
Privilege to call you blessed,
In your life, your works, your name.

To your heart, as Jesus Saviour,
Little ones you gathered near;
Loved them, taught them, fondly sheltered
Their young lives to God so dear.

Now by thousands rise your Daughters,
When the call of need they hear;
To the goal your footsteps lead them,
Prints to last the eternal year.

For we see the mark is loving –
Charity we know is God;
Holiness was yours, dear Mother,
Keep us on the path you trod.

Mother, may our Jesus crown you,
Our fair country’s first to gain
Signet holy; may your Daughters
Heaven’s reward at last attain.
