Seton Legacy of Charity 1809-2009
The 200th anniversary celebrations came to a close on Sunday, Oct. 25 with a special liturgy at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains in downtown Cincinnati. Approximately 800 Sisters, Associates, family members and friends attended the celebration and the reception following the liturgy in the Cathedral’s undercroft.

Emmitsburg Celebrations
Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati join Federation Sisters of Charity in Emmitsburg, MD., July 31- August 2 to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the founding of the Sisters of Charity by St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in 1809.

   


Seton Legacy of Charity Bicentennial Medal
Mary Jo Mersmann, director of the Associate Program; Timothy Moller, Chief Financial Officer; and S. Judith Metz, SC, archivist, were honored with The Seton Legacy of Charity Bicentennial Medal for their significant contributions to living and promoting the legacy of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. The awards were presented at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth in Emmitsburg, Maryland on Saturday, May 23. For more information on the awards ceremony, please click here. Women & Spirit Opening Celebrations
The Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati are featured, along with 20 women religious congregations from Southwest Ohio, Southeast Indiana, and Northern Kentucky, in a nationally touring exhibit that celebrates the contributions of Catholic women religious in the United States. The exhibit, “Women & Spirit, Catholic Sisters in America,” opens at the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal in Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday, May 16 and runs through Wednesday, August 30, 2009. The Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. will also host the traveling exhibit at a later date.


Dulcimer Concert
Dulcimer Concert was held at the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the Mount St. Joseph Motherhouse on April 26. The program included Colonial, Antebellum and Civil War Section.


 


A special anniversary liturgy was held at the Immaculate Conception Chapel for family members of Sisters of Charity and Associates. Approximately 500 individuals took part in the Mass and attended the reception immediately following.
