Our Daily Bread is an Over-the-Rhine (Cincinnati, Ohio) ministry of Christian hospitality, comprised of paid staff and volunteers, dedicated to serving the needs of the neighborhood residents and those who frequent the area.Our Daily Bread provides a warm meal in a safe place for all who come, a place where all are invited to be part of a community that is caring, supportive, accepting and welcoming.
The heart of Our Daily Bread ministry is to respond to the needs of the poor; to accept His invitation to act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with our God and those whom He sends us each day.
Position: varies according to volunteer's gifts, skills and interest.

Working in Neighborhoods (WIN)
Cincinnati, Ohio
WIN assists low- and moderate-income residents in taking ownership of their neighborhoods by providing leadership training, community development and housing.Position I: senior action committee organizer
Responsibilities: train leadership; help leaders to lay out an action plan to work on issues that affect local senior groups as well as the whole senior population; recruit new members and maintain contact with existing members.
Qualifications: bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred; good communication skills; interest in systemic change; knowledge of health care helpful but not required.Position II: housing assistant
Responsibilities: rehabilitate homes for ownership by residents of public housing; coordinate volunteer groups to assist in constructing homes.
Qualifications: bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred; ability to work with housing developer; ability to use a computer and maintain budgets helpful.Position III: WIN organizer
Responsibilities: learn about community organizing while working with people of all racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Qualifications: bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred; interest in making social change; willingness to work some evenings and Saturdays.Position IV: neighborhood organizer
Responsibilities: stimulate and move people to action on issues by knocking on doors and talking with people in an assigned geographic area; arrange neighborhood constituency meetings.
Qualifications: bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred; good organizational, communication and record-keeping skills; interest in systemic change.
The Women’s Connection

Responsibilities: provide learning environment for children; assist program coordinator with children’s programs.

St. Francis Center
Denver, Colorado
St. Francis Center (SFC) is a refuge for men and women who are homeless in the metro Denver area, providing services that enable people to meet their basic needs for daily survival and to transition out of homelessness. It is a safe, inviting place to be during the day when other shelters are unavailable. Our staff includes a social worker, nurse, mental health counselor and employment specialist and each of them is available to assist SFC guests* with their concerns. More than anything else, St. Francis Center offers hope when it is needed most. St. Francis Center is open year-round and serves a daily average of more than 700 people. St. Francis Center (SFC) is a not-for-profit organization with its roots in the Episcopal Church. It has been a place of refuge for people who are homeless for 23 years.
Position: Provide direct service to people who are homeless and visiting the day shelter

SC Community
U.S.-Mexico Border
This community of Sisters works in healthcare and pastoral ministry along the border. Commitment is to living together in community, experiencing religious life and service in a cross-cultural setting.Position: varies according to volunteer’s gifts, skills and interests.
Responsibilities: sharing in community life (prayer, household tasks, meals, recreation) and ministries with the Sisters at clinics offering primary care and alternative medical therapies, as well as involvement at the local parish.
Qualifications: willingness to participate in community life; interest in exploring the charism of the Sisters of Charity; knowledge of the Spanish language or a willingness to learn; flexibility for a variety of ministry tasks; desire to experience and explore Mexican-American culture.
St. Vincent Hotel, Inc.
Dayton, Ohio
The St. Vincent Hotel is an emergency overnight shelter providing support services for homeless men, women and families. The Hotel provides lodging, meals, case management, clothing, hygienic amenities and limited medical services to guests at no cost. It is sponsored by the Dayton District Council of the Society of St. Vincent DePaul. The Hotel family shares the Gospel through day-to-day activities and interactions with staff, volunteers and guests.Positions: A variety of positions are available in such areas as custodial; housekeeping; clerical; sorting, distributing and stocking donated food, clothing and miscellaneous items; serving and/or fixing meals; and assisting staff in providing direct service to the guests by helping with intake and other activities.
Qualifications: maturity; good judgment; flexibility; a willingness to work as a team member; a spirit of Gospel hospitality; and a strong desire to assist the poor and disenfranchised population of our community to access the opportunities available to them so they may obtain and maintain economic self-sufficiency.
