Group or Partner Prayer Exercise
This is a great prayer/journaling idea! Sr. Mary Lou Knapke shares the following:
During Lent (or Advent), members of my faith sharing group exchange simple blank journal books. We use the Lenten (or Advent) Scripture readings. We choose one word from one of the readings for the day. Write it down and journal about the word adding the word “with”.
Ask for a needed grace for the day. That grace could be something as simple as: I need the grace today to stay “with the task” or I will find time to be “with” another today.
She continues: at the end of Lent, we exchange our journals as a gifts to another in the group by drawing names. In turn, each receives someone else’s journal as a gift for further reflection.
Sr. Mary Lou noted that the original idea came from Sr. Jose Hobday OSF who says that Scripture is SO powerful that we might munch on only ONE word at a time.
