Direction Statements
Earth, Advocacy and Mission will be posted as soon as possible.Membership
There was general support for the Directional Statements on Membership and an affirmation of the Associate program.“As I looked at the Directional Statements on Membership that referred to Associates, I recalled something that Associate Randy Husaynu said to me the other day, ‘I just mailed my letter to the President of the United Nations. That’s the best thing about being an SC Associate, the global connection! I never knew about some issues I’ve learned about since being a part of the Sisters of Charity and now I am doing something about them.’”
- Sister Noreen Ellison“As the former Director of Associates I have high hopes of the Chapter delegates passing the resolution urging us to further education and dialogue around Association. Associates bring the gift of offering us their view from ‘beyond our borders.’ In return I find them grateful for the gift of living within the inspiration of our charism and our commitment to social justice. Some dialogue around how we can best contribute to each other’s living the Gospel mission would yield valuable clarification and appreciation on both sides.”

Governance Session
3:00 pmThe Friday afternoon session on governance was a continuation of the Thursday afternoon and Friday morning sessions on the same topic. At the beginning of the Friday afternoon session we were presented with two governance proposals. The first called for the creation of a Congregational Governance Committee to conduct a comprehensive study and evaluation of our current government structure. The second proposal recommended retaining the present model of leadership and to continue to assess and adapt it in light of our changing Congregational realities. After reading the proposals, we had open mike time to discuss them.
It is my belief that we all want the same end – relationality. However we get tangled up in words and emotions, and confused about expectations of ourselves vs. elected leadership. My experience is that the wisdom of God will prevail.
- S. Paula RussellCircling round:
Questions, comments, feelings abound.
Where can the truth be found?
My head is spinning; my heart is whirling.
Spirit of Love, Spirit of Peace, Spirit of Unity,
Come, fill us, guide us.
- S. Margaret MachGovernance session involves a chance to be heard about concerns, leadership styles, community ministry needs and future needs.
- S. Annette PaveglioI felt this session presented me with an experience of our SC Community at her best. We talked – many times with great diversity of opinions, attitudes, feelings and insights. I was grateful for the courage and honesty of expression – indeed in listening and in sharing. I felt a deepening sense of trust, gratitude and love for our SC Community present at the Chapter.
