Sister Victoria Trinitas Anyanwu Professes Perpetual Vows
Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Victoria Trinitas Anyanwu professed perpetual vows in a special liturgy on Saturday, October 23, 2010 in the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati Motherhouse.
With family and friends present, Sister Victoria vowed, “I freely commit myself for life to the services of God and God’s people as a member of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati….I ask for the continuing grace of God and the support of my sisters and brothers that I may remain faithful to the commitment I freely make today.”
Sister Barbara Hagedorn, president of the congregation, accepted the vows and asked all Sisters in the chapel to rise in support of Sister Victoria and her life commitment. The Mass celebrant, Father John Amankwah, a friend to Sister Victoria on the journey into religious life, blessed the ring Sister will wear as a member of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati. Sister Victoria accepted the ring as Sister Barbara Hagedorn proclaimed, “This ring is a sign of the covenant you have made, binding yourself to Christ and this community. Wear it as a symbol of the commitment you make today.”
During the ceremony Sister Victoria read a good will message, stating, “I am especially happy and so blessed to be sharing this special day with my family members represented by Mr. Chibueze, my nephew, Mesomachi, my niece, and Mrs. Ngozi Anyanwu, my sister-in-law. Even though the rest of my family members are in Nigeria, Italy and Cameroon, they are all present here in spirit and are celebrating with me today wherever they are now. I am blessed with a wonderful family; they have been a precious gift to me. They gave me the unique insights into the essence of love, compassion and joy.”
Sister Victoria, her family members, friends and many Sisters in Christ celebrated with a reception following the Mass.
