February 2008	Sisters of Charity oppose war in Iraq and call for responsible plan for withdrawal. On the fifth anniversary of the Iraq war, we call on our government to: implement a plan for responsible withdrawal; provide troops the physical and psychological care needed; support the development of infrastructures for both human and environmental stability; respect the Iraqi people's right to choose their own form of governance; respect religious and cultural diversity within Iraq; and redirect resources to meet human needs at home and in other parts of the world.	Passed. Communicated February 28, 2008.
March 2003	As a Congregation of the Sister of Charity of Cincinnati, we oppose war in Iraq and call for a responsible plan for withdrawal.	Passed. Communicated March, 2003.
October 2000	As a Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, we believe that the death penalty should be abolished in the United States in law and in practice.	Passed. Communicated October 23, 2000.
April 1999	As a Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, we believe that the debts of poor countries should be relieved and be carried out in such a way as to benefit the most impoverished persons in those countries.	Passed. Communicated April 1999.
August 1981	That the Sisters of Charity publicly announce our call to halt the nuclear arms race. That we join with the Sisters of Loretto in endorsing this call by signing and circulating petitions devised by the Loretto Disarmament/Economic conversion committee.	Passed. Communicated October 21, 1981.
January 1981	That the Sisters of Charity publicly announce our opposition to U.S. economic and military aid to avoid identification with a repressive government in El Salvador. That we actively encourage other religious congregations and Church organizations to join us.	Passed. Communicated January 17, 1981.
