Looking at Justice From a Different Perspective
Looking at Justice From a Different Perspective Some of you may have noticed that several public bathrooms in the Motherhouse and Mother Margaret Hall have a new addition: free menstrual products. The Sisters of Charity (SC) have partnered with Aunt Flow, a women-founded enterprise that is committed to ensuring people have access to quality menstrual products while at work or school.
The SCs buy the products from Aunt Flow and offer them at no charge for those unexpected times of need.
Social justice: Menstrual products are not covered by food stamps or WIC. Aunt Flow believes that no one should be forced to choose between food and tampons. For every 10 products sold, Aunt Flow donates one to a nonprofit that distributes them to people in need.
Earth justice: Environmental sustainability is important to Aunt Flow. Their tampons are biodegradable and packaged with 25 percent less waste than competitive brands.
Human justice: Aunt Flow products are “body safe” – 100 percent organic cotton and no synthetics, perfumes, or dyes. Being mindful of Earth while supporting our employees, younger Sisters and Associates and visitors is just. It’s Charity in action!
