"The greater the work the more
important it is to establish it on
a solid foundation. Thus it will
not only be more perfect; it
will also be more lasting.”

St. Louise de Marillac

“Friendship has the skill and
observation of the best physician,
the diligence and vigilance of the
best nurse and the tenderness
and patience of the best mother.”

Mother Margaret George

In response to the recent death of George Floyd and the ongoing issue of racism in our country, the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati issue the following statement:

“We cannot tolerate or turn a blind eye to racism and exclusion in any form … and yet claim to defend the sacredness of every human life.” – Pope Francis

We the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati join in prayer and lamentation for the loss of life of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and so many others.

We stand in solidarity with those working to end the evil of individual and institutionalized racism.

We stand with the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) in asking for the forgiveness of our sisters and brothers of color. We support and affirm the statement below and we pledge to continue to raise our voices and work for systemic change and to examine our own lives before our God. We dare to risk a caring response.
