Raising Awareness: Sisters, Associate participate in virtual Flying Pig

Sisters Joyce Richter, Sally Duffy and Associate Karen Martin recently participated in Cincinnati’s spring virtual Flying Pig while raising funds for the Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center. “IJPC does such concrete advocacy through presence and actions to ensure the God-given dignity and shared membership of immigrants,” said S. Sally. “IJPC is one of the organizations leading the collaborative efforts to end the death penalty, and bi-partisan bills have been introduced in both the House and Senate of the Ohio Legislature. IJPC approaches every effort through the lens of non-violence, peacemaking and ending systemic racism.”

This month S. Joyce and Karen joined IJPC Flying Pig fundraisers for a 5k walk/run on Saturday, May 8 at the Loveland Bike trail. It was a socially distanced walk followed by an outdoor picnic. In addition, Karen completed the virtual Flying Pig 10k at Miami Meadows as well as a half-marathon on the Miami Bike Trail. S. Sally completed her virtual half marathon on Friday, May 21.

All three women were honored to participate this spring and to raise funds for IJPC. Each are considering or have already committed to participation in the fall event. To give to IJPC, please visit https://www.classy.org/fundraiser/3231830.
