Associates Celebrate 50 Years

On Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, the Sisters of Charity Community celebrated the 50^th anniversary of the Associate program. It was in 1973 that Community members looked at possible envisioning of new ways to embody the SC mission and spirit. Lay women and men were seeking a deepened spiritual life and a desire to join the Community in mission and ministry. The life of St. Elizabeth Seton attracted and informed these seekers and the Sisters of Charity are grateful for all those who responded to the call then and since. The weekend liturgy in the Motherhouse chapel, welcoming three new Associates in Mission and a shared meal were all a most fitting way to celebrate 50 years of being “Called by Spirit, United by Love.”
